Rogue Scientists
Rogue Scientists is the hands-on, project-based, build-stuff-and-break-stuff science-education movement on Holy Rogue Network. The Mark-Rober-and-CrunchLabs ethos leads here: a kid (or a curious adult) learns more about physics by building a hydraulic claw than by sitting through a textbook chapter, learns more about chemistry by running a kitchen experiment than by being lectured at, learns more about engineering by failing on a marble run and iterating than by reading the answer. Concept-depth lecture content (Crash Course, Khan Academy, Veritasium) is available when a learner needs the underlying theory, but the front door of this movement is built around the build-it-break-it-discover-why pattern. Primarily designed as the network's "Science Class" for Rogue Schoolers (the homeschool / learning movement), with a broader open door for any curious mind, citizen scientist, hobbyist researcher, working scientist, lab teacher, or science creator who wants a home in the Holy Rogue ecosystem. Every discipline, every age, every level — biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, geology, ecology, microbiology, anatomy, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, robotics, electronics, citizen science projects, kitchen chemistry, backyard astronomy, microscope work, field-journal naturalism, science-history, philosophy of science, and the foundational scientific method itself — has a seat at this table. Founder Kimball Roundy is not a working scientist or science teacher — by design, this is an organizing and curation movement on the network rather than a founder-personal-story movement. The flagship integration is Rogue Schoolers: every Rogue Schooler family gets the Rogue Scientists content library bundled into their curriculum at no extra cost, daily and weekly science study, project-based learning, and structured progressions through the major disciplines. For non-Schooler members, the same content is available a la carte. Cross-references run with Iron Rod (faith-and-science integration, especially physics and cosmology friendly to the LDS view of intelligence and creation), Rogue Math (the language of science), Rogue Wellness (applied biology and physiology), Rogue Preppers (applied chemistry, physics, biology in the household-readiness context), Rogue Aquarists and Rogue Growers (applied biology in Living Food Storage), and Rogue Photographers (microscopy, astrophotography, scientific imaging). The educational pillar is built around imported and curated content from the world's best science teachers, communicators, and citizen-science creators on YouTube and beyond. Hands-on project-based creators lead the lineup: Mark Rober and CrunchLabs (the network's preferred default for younger learners — monthly engineering project boxes paired with the YouTube series), SmarterEveryDay (Destin Sandlin), Steve Mould, Practical Engineering (Grady Hillhouse), Backyard Scientist, NileRed and NileBlue, Applied Science (Ben Krasnow), Stuff Made Here, ElectroBOOM, and the broader project-based creator stack. Concept-depth lecture series (Crash Course, Khan Academy, MinutePhysics, Veritasium, AsapSCIENCE) are available when a learner needs the underlying theory, but the front-door defaults are project-based. Structured curricula (Apologia, BJU, Berean Builders, Nancy Larson for younger learners) and citizen-science programs (eBird, iNaturalist, Foldit, Zooniverse) round out the library, and the long tail of niche-discipline creators fills in the specialty paths. The Sovereign.ink Spin Dispatcher pulls daily content from these creators (with proper attribution and creator-share economics), surfacing it to the Rogue Schoolers daily lesson plan, to Davee's daily science coaching for individual learners, and to any member working through a structured learning path. The marketplace runs on the standard Holy Rogue Network template: Storefronts (private science teachers and tutors offering 1-on-1 lessons by Zoom or in-person, structured curriculum subscriptions, lab-kit-of-the-month subscriptions, microscope and telescope and electronics-bench gear sales, citizen-science project guides, science-history and philosophy-of-science courses — vetted Faculty / certified teachers display Halo Ratings); Classifieds (used microscopes, telescopes, lab gear, electronics components, "I'll teach chemistry in trade for X" arrangements); Hot Ovens (live group events — backyard astronomy nights, citizen-science bioblitz days, kitchen-chemistry workshops, electronics-and-robotics build days, science-fair preparation cohorts); Clubs (local astronomy clubs, citizen-science teams, robotics teams, science-fair coaches, homeschool-co-op science labs). Marketplace, Tier Ladder, Easy Score, and Family Kit. Tier ladder: Certified Rogue Scientist (vetted teacher, working researcher, or accomplished citizen scientist with student or audience track record and a Halo Rating), then Master Scientist (Faculty rank — co-teaching, hosting cohorts, named publicly; imported-YouTube-creator and named-researcher Faculty seats reserved for top science teachers and creators who engage with the network), then Founding Scientist (network-launched leadership tier). Youth tier: Stripling Scientist (David-stripling lineage shared with the network's other youth tiers, earned via father-child or family-team milestones — first solo experiment, first published observation in a citizen-science project, first science fair entry). Family kit: Mighty Scientist Kit (mom-purchased family upgrade for little ones — a small kid-safe microscope, beginner field journal, simple chemistry-and-physics demo set, kid-sized lab coat and safety goggles all just like the family scientist's; mirrors the Mighty Smiter, Mighty Jack, Mighty Mason, Mighty Musician, Mighty Lens, Mighty Mic, Mighty Prepper, Mighty Citizen, and Mighty Roper kits across the network). The Easy Score block is intentionally lightweight: Davee scaffolds the early Easy levels with curated YouTube content, per-student experiment tracking, and routine concept Q&A; flagship Faculty seats remain open for imported science teachers and YouTube creators to fill as they engage with the network and accept Master Scientist designations.
