Rogue Rock Smiters
I am a Rock Smiter. I can see and hew the gift out of every stumbling block that God majestically places in my path. That is the founder's identity statement and the doorway into this movement. A Rock Smiter is, fundamentally, someone who can do hard things — and more specifically, someone who has trained themselves to recognize God's hand in everything that happens to them. When God places a stumbling block in the path, a Rock Smiter doesn't shatter like glass and doesn't play the victim. He takes the rock, analyzes it, smites it with hammer and chisel, asks God what's inside it, and decides what kind of stone it becomes — sometimes a stepping stone to elevate his thinking, sometimes a foundation stone to build his life on, sometimes an altar stone to remember God's hand by, sometimes a building stone to construct his future from. The work is internal first, external second; it generalizes far beyond literal stone. Founder Kimball Roundy didn't name this discipline in 2023 — he lived it for 24 years before he had a word for it. He calls it Rock Smiting now because on July 5, 2023 — the day he calls his Reverse Independence Day — he started shoveling sandstone for a living at Quality Building Stone in Wellington, Utah, with a broken L5 vertebra from a truck wreck six months earlier (January 11, 2023, in his Pony X delivery truck). Eight hours a day, scripture in his earbuds, moving roughly two tons of mountain by hand from saw table to smiting rails — one-ton slabs lifted onto the saw by forklift, then every cut block carried by him to the rails to be smitten into bricks. The pain was extreme. The clarity was greater. The identity crystallized in the quarry, but the practice had been refining him in plain sight since 1998. The scriptural foundation runs deep. "Look unto the rock from whence ye are hewn" (Isaiah 51:1). "I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places" (Isaiah 45:3). "I will make thee a polished shaft in his quiver" (Isaiah 49:2). "And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it" (Isaiah 19:22) — God's stumbling blocks are mercy in disguise; the smiting IS the healing. And underneath all of it, the Lost-116-Pages doctrine from 1 Nephi 9: God commanded Nephi to make a smaller backup set of plates 2,400 years before Joseph Smith's friend would lose the original Book of Lehi manuscript — "for a wise purpose in him, which purpose I know not." The deepest optimism in the Rock Smiter path comes from this: God already prepared the way around the failure you haven't made yet. Rogue Rock Smiters exists because every other men's-transformation event in the world hits the same wall on Monday morning. You go to a Tony Robbins weekend, a Setema Gali GameChanger event, any of the elite Christian men's retreats, and you get the emotional high, the vision, the brotherhood — and then Monday morning hits and real life smashes the high to powder because nothing about the event gave you a concrete path to walk forward into. Rock Smiters fixes this with a literal vocation, a literal economic engine, and a literal flag raised at your literal mailbox. Spiritual elevation without an economic path home is wishful thinking. The Rock Smiter path delivers both. The daily practice is built on what Kimball calls the Four Foundation Stones — the four things every Rock Smiter compasses (returns to and aligns with) every single day. Altar Stones: moments in your life when God's hand was undeniably present (the Hebrew altar was built of unhewn stone, Exodus 20:25, because some experiences need no chiseling; you simply remember them). Precious Gemstones: the people God has placed in your care — wife, husband, children, kin (Isaiah 54:11-12 sapphires and alabaster as your foundation); if you don't compass them daily they will flee from you and find love somewhere else. Keystones: your body, mind, and agency — the master key without which the arch of your family collapses; if you cannot physically and mentally bear what God needs you to bear, you cannot serve. Millstones: your daily labor — what you grind at to provide; it must align with Jehovah's will or He will smash it (and the dark twin of this stone is the millstone tied around the neck and thrown into the ocean — Matthew 18:6). Beyond the Four Foundation Stones, the Rock Smiter recognizes a broader stone taxonomy that shapes how he reads what God hands him. Hailstones are sudden, painful, divine course corrections that look catastrophic but are actually merciful redirections. Anchor Stones are the relationships and moments that tether a man to his covenants. Industrial Gemstones are the people and resources God places in your life specifically to help you move forward in your temporal mission. And the master pattern under all of them: Stumbling Blocks, hewn for the Gift, reshaped into Stepping, Foundation, Altar, Building, or Keystones. Every hard thing that happens to you contains a gift. The Rock Smiter's job is to find it, name it, and decide what kind of stone the gift becomes in his life. Two symbols mark Kimball's stone chisel every day at the quarry. The F Symbol (seven steps to becoming His servant): Humble yourself before Jehovah, recognize He is in and through all things, compass yourself on His will, move His kingdom forward, accept His course correction, smite the rock and hew the gift, elevate your thinking, and return to step four. The Arrow Symbol (the polished arrow's five compass marks, from Isaiah 49:2): Compass your Altar Stones, compass your Precious Gemstones, compass your Keystone, compass your Millstones, compass on the Will of Jehovah. The chisel becomes a portable altar; the daily marks become a portable liturgy. You can adopt them or invent your own — but the discipline of marking the tool you work with daily is non-negotiable. The flagship live program of this movement is The Game of Stones — a six-phase journey that turns the Rock Smiter philosophy into a literal vocation and a literal income stream. Phase 1 — Nomination: a man cannot self-nominate; his wife, his business partner, or someone close to him nominates him. Phase 2 — Acceptance Proof Post: the nominated man accepts publicly with photographic evidence of hard work already done — a pile of work gloves with the fingertips worn through, a stack of boots with the soles gone, a heap of dulled and resharpened chainsaw chains. Phase 3 — Invitation: the proof post unlocks an invitation to the Game of Stones masterclass. Phase 4 — Application: apply to become a Certified Rogue Rock Smiter in your area. Phase 5 — Pallet + Training: if approved, the network ships you a pallet of Quality Building Stone sandstone (often Moab red rock) via CrownRunners; you record yourself working through ten to thirty stone challenges, finding the grain, splitting, trimming, turning each block into bricks, pedestals, tables, benches, fire-pit rings. Phase 6 — Distribution Partner: as your skill grows, your standing in the network grows; CrownRunners drops pallets on you knowing you can convert them into product, and you become the regional Rogue Rock Smiter for your area. The very first thing every approved Smiter builds from his first pallet is the Rock Smiter Title of Liberty — a deliberate echo of Captain Moroni's standard in Alma 46:12-13. The Smiter crafts a Red Rock Sandstone mailbox cover and integrated flagpole base from his first pallet; the network ships the literal Rock Smiter flag with the pallet; the Smiter raises the flag by his road, visible to every neighbor. It is a public declaration, in stone and cloth, of "In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children" — adapted to the modern equivalent: "I am free. This is my path. I am the man God has called me to be." Every pallet ships with extra rock beyond what the Title of Liberty requires; that extra rock becomes tables, benches, planters, and fire pits sold to neighbors who saw the flag go up and came to ask about it. The neighbor sales recoup the full pallet cost — the Quality Building Stone material, the CrownRunner shipping, and the Smiter's own time — closing the loop into ongoing business by the end of the first project. The economics work because of how the Holy Rogue Network is structured to flow value to the craftsman. The Yorkshire Stonedresser (a YouTube one-man stone-craft channel) is the founding inspiration model — a single Smiter, a chisel, a saw, and a community willing to pay fair prices for handmade stone work; he is being courted as Dream100 Faculty (UK) to launch the first international Rock Smiters Club. Quality Building Stone in Wellington, Utah — where Kimball still works the rails — is the named institutional supplier; the family operation that hired Kimball with a broken back becomes the network's pallet source. CrownRunners is the network's already-shipping pallet-distribution layer. Moab red rock sandstone cross-links into Rogue Adventurers (the same rock Moab jeepers ride on, now becoming your kitchen island in Tennessee). On the buyer side, a 5,000-dollar outdoor BBQ-and-kitchen unit ordered locally ships as a pallet from Wellington, gets crafted and delivered by the local Smiter, and the Smiter keeps all the profit — BYOK + BYOStripe, no platform fee — flowing into Rogue Cash and Rogue Gold (the literal "secret hoards of wealth" of Isaiah 45:3 made manifest). This practice produces visible-to-camera evidence that God is in it. The founder has two signature Father moments on file (full narratives live in the Rock Smiter Masterclass; both are also recorded as the founding story of Rogue Lumberjacks, the GodWood era of his refining). Both follow the same pattern: Kimball says "Thank you, Father" out loud, and at the exact word "Father" — once a lightning bolt strikes his field after his three-year-old daughter prayed for rain on freshly cut hay; once a dump-truck driver two hundred yards away honks his horn after delivering a load of rescued trees to Kimball's farm. And one more in his own body: by late 2023, after five months of shoveling sandstone with a broken back, Kimball lifted his daughter Lily and felt no pain for the first time in a year. The hidden treasure was on the other side of the work he didn't choose. "By the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread" (Genesis 3:19) and "I will give thee the treasures of darkness" (Isaiah 45:3) are the same doctrine: the treasures ARE on the other side of the sweat. You cannot bypass the work. Every passive-residual / 5-minute / make-money-while-you-sleep business Kimball ever launched in his first twenty years got smashed by God for trying to. The live-event arc culminates in the Young David Hunting Experience (cross-Faculty with Rogue Hunters and Rogue Adventurers), inspired by 1 Samuel 17:34-35 — David's lion-and-bear before he ever faced Goliath. Fathers and sons enter the Utah wilderness together for guided lion or bear hunts, scriptural devotion, hard physical work, and shared survival; the experience culminates in the Father-Son Rock Smiter Induction Ceremony at the quarry, with something special unique to teenage sons and their fathers who walk the trip together. Induction earns a lifetime Adventure Badge displayed on the inducted Smiter's HRN profile; like the Mighty Jack badge in Lumberjacks, the Rock Smiter Induction is collectible at any Faculty Field Trip across the network. Rogue Rock Smiters sits at the center of a pattern of sister movements in the Holy Rogue Network. Upstream, Rogue Movers is the alt-fitness movement whose Quarry Master tier is the natural feeder pipeline into Rock Smiters Faculty. Downstream, Rogue Masons (the finish-work sister) lays the bricks Rock Smiters craft, mirroring the Lumberjacks-to-Carpenter division of labor exactly: raw-material crafter feeds finished-work tradesman. Sideways, Rogue Adventurers shares the Moab sandstone supply chain, Rogue Hunters shares the Young David live-event arc, Rogue Gold receives the Smiter's wealth as it accumulates, and CrownRunners shares the pallet-distribution network. And underneath all of them: this is the capstone movement of the Holy Rogue Network's mission — pun intentional and load-bearing. The original 2005 "Place to Go for people who have nowhere else to go" Why that shaped Kimball's twenty-year arc is fulfilled here, in a movement that delivers both spiritual elevation AND a vocational economic path home. Anti-guru framing is non-negotiable: Don't follow Kimball — follow Him. Kimball is a failure after failure being caught and refined by Jehovah himself; the Rock Smiter path is the path to becoming a polished arrow in His quiver, not in Kimball's. Marketplace, Tier Ladder, Easy Score, and Family Kits. Rogue Rock Smiters' marketplace lives at the universal Holy Rogue Network marketplace at /search-map — Storefronts (Certified Smiter shops listing finished pieces, custom commissions, pallet-distribution availability), Classifieds (used quarry tools, surplus stone), Hot Ovens (live Game-of-Stones cohort batches in your area), Clubs (local Smiter brotherhoods + father-son chapters). The tier ladder runs Certified Rogue Rock Smiter (passed the Game of Stones, owns the Title of Liberty, listed on the marketplace), then Quarry Master (cross-credentialed from Rogue Movers' top tier, capable of training others on the rails), then Founding Smiter (Faculty rank — co-teaching live cohorts, named publicly, eligible for revenue share on Game-of-Stones cohort fees). Youth tier: Stripling Smiter (David-stripling lineage, parallels Stripling Hunter / Stripling Linguist / Stripling Mover; earned via father-son Induction at the Young David Hunting Experience). Family kits: the Mighty Smiter Kit is a mom-purchased upgrade for little children — a small hammer like dad's, a small sandstone building block set, a miniature Title of Liberty, and a Smiter apron all just like dad's; mirrors the Mighty Jack Kit in Rogue Lumberjacks. The Easy Score block (level labels, coach persona, flagship faculty + teaching ranges, intake survey) plugs into the network-wide Easy Score system; Founding Smiter Kimball + Davee co-coach the early Easy levels, The Yorkshire Stonedresser (Dream100 Faculty, UK) is targeted for the upper Easy levels and the first international Rock Smiters Club, and the Wellington UT pallet supplier (named when confirmed) anchors the materials Faculty seat.
